BIOGRAPHY

Mike Mangan was raised in a music loving family and began playing piano at the age of five. As a child, his household and family church exposed him to music as diverse as Bach, Catholic hymns, the jazz of Count Basie, Gene Harris, Oscar Peterson and John Coltrane, and the Rock and Blues of Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Allman Brothers and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Exposure to such varied music has produced in Mike a love of all musical styles and the ability to mold these influences into a fresh and unique approach. His sensational playing has made him a session player for top producers such as Stoker (Sting), Malvin Dino Vice (The Gap Band), and Eric Valentine (Smashmouth, Tom Coster, Third Eye Blind).

As the most reliable live "hired gun", Mike has been the live keyboardist of choice for bands such as Stevie Nicks tour openers 'California', who were signed with Trauma Records, and has showcased for major labels and producers such as Jimmy Iovine.

Mike's own instrumental performances, during which he manipulates the tone of a vintage Hammond B3 in a startling fashion and displays amazing unique chops, is quickly transforming him into one of the most exciting and innovative B3 Organ players of all time.

Mike currently plays in his own organ trio, is a co-founder of Los Angeles based rock band The Voyd, and performs with improvisational jam band Mass Distraction.
